Description

The Comet 0202.0153.00 is a set of three precision-ground 15mm ceramic plungers. These are the standard “wear” components for Comet’s small-to-medium frame triplex pumps. Since a cracked or scored piston will immediately destroy new seals, replacing them as a complete set ensures balanced pressure and longevity for the pump.

This 15mm piston set is designed for several popular Comet pump series:

• LW Series: LW 3025, LW 3517, LW 3525

• LWD Series: LWD 3020, LWD 3025

• ZW Series: ZW 3030, ZW 3530, ZW 4030

Why Ceramic?

Ceramic is used because it is incredibly smooth (reducing seal friction) and resists corrosion from chemicals. However, it is brittle. The two main enemies of these pistons are:

1. Thermal Shock: Leaving the pump in bypass mode too long heats the water. When you pull the trigger, cold water hits the hot ceramic, causing it to shatter or “spiderweb.”

2. Over-tightening: The piston nut must be torqued precisely. Too much pressure can crack the ceramic from the center outward.
