Description

The General Pump 10001-01082 is a specialized oil seal kit designed for the LW and LWD series pumps that utilize a hollow shaft (typically the “E” or “G” versions for electric and gas direct-drive). While water seals keep water inside the manifold, these oil seals are located at the back of the crankcase to keep the lubrication oil in and contaminants out.

Kit Specifications

  • Compatible Series: General Pump / Interpump LW and LWD Series

  • Shaft Type: Hollow Shaft (Direct Drive)

  • Part Type: Crankcase/Shaft Oil Seals

  • Cross-Reference: Interpump KIT 82

Kit Contents

This kit focuses on the points where the moving parts exit the crankcase:

  • 3 Plunger Oil Seals: These seal the plunger rods as they move in and out of the crankcase. They prevent water that has bypassed the high-pressure packings from entering the oil reservoir.

  • 1 Crankshaft Seal: A large diameter seal designed to fit around the hollow shaft where it connects to the motor or engine.

  • 1 O-Ring: Used for the crankcase cover or side plate depending on the specific pump sub-model.

Key Features

  • Dual-Lip Design: Most seals in this kit feature a dual-lip profile—one lip to keep oil in and a second “wiper” lip to prevent dust and water from entering the crankcase.

  • High-Grade Nitrile Rubber: Constructed from materials resistant to the heat generated by 3400 RPM operation and the chemicals found in synthetic pump oils.

  • Direct Drive Optimized: Specifically engineered for the tolerances of hollow shaft pumps, which experience different heat and vibration profiles than solid-shaft, belt-driven units.

When to Replace These Seals

  • Oil Leaks: You see oil dripping from the bottom of the pump frame or where the pump meets the engine/motor.

  • Milky Oil: If your oil looks like a “latte” or white chocolate milk, it means these seals (specifically the plunger oil seals) have failed, allowing water to mix with your lubricant.

  • Loss of Oil Level: If you find yourself constantly topping off the SAE 30 oil despite no visible external puddles, the seals may be leaking internally during operation.
